In June 2021 the cruise company introduced the industry's first CrewCall. The on-demand service is via the cabin's smart HDTV (and the MedallionClass app) and allows passengers to call a crew (to their current onboard location) for assistance or to request services. The app's "CrewCall Chat" allows texting (via smart devices) a specific question or making requests to the crew member. On August 1, 2023, Princess Cruises implemented fleetwide a new boarding process aiming to make it easier for tourists to board the ships. As a result, the scheduled arrival times on embarkation day were eliminated.
Princess Cruises ships ranked by size from biggest to smallest — the complete list
Discovery Princess is, for now, the newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet, having launched in 2022. Part of the Royal Class, she’s larger than Royal Princess and Regal Princess after some design changes which began with 2019’s Sky Princess. Her itineraries are interesting too, including a mix of sailings around the Caribbean and Alaska, including Panama Canal sailings while repositioning between the two. Here’s the full list of all the ships in the Princess fleet, organised by average score. If you’re not familiar with the fleet, you might want to know which is the best ship, and which is the worst.

For more information please see Our cruise holidays are ATOL protected (No. 6294). Take a dip in our sparkling freshwater pools and leave your everyday world behind. Unwind on a padded lounger and soak up the sun, catch up on reading, listen to music or dream of your next adventure on board or ashore. And what better way to relax and revitalize after a day exploring the world than a long soak in one of our whirling hot tubs. And don’t forget, there is always a server nearby to bring you a refreshing cocktail or favorite beverage. There are just four types of ships in the Princess fleet and for the most part, they aren't wildly different from each other.
The mascot is also present on the special Welcome Aboard shows throughout the voyage. Souvenir Stanley bears plush toys are available for purchase in the onboard shopping arcade "Shops of Princess". A portion of the proceeds from the toy's sales goes to "Princess Animal Welfare Sponsor". A major company asset is "Princess Tours" (Alaska division acquired in 1986) with 10 luxury railcars for scenic tours of Mt McKinley and daily capacity 700+ passengers. The new "Princess Italia" again operated the Mexican Riviera from LA (the Princess logo on the funnel was placed for the first time in 1967).
With national parks and four of North America’s tallest mountains, Alaska’s wilderness has been preserved for generations. Denali National Park is larger than Vermont and home to the highest peak on the continent. Meanwhile, Glacier Bay National Park has over 2,000 square miles of glacial coverage. Elias and Kenai Fjords, a world of natural wonders awaits on an Alaska cruise or cruisetour.
At 175,500 tons, Sun Princess will be about 21% bigger than the biggest ships currently in the Princess fleet — a significant jump in size for the line. And yet, while it's 21% bigger, it's designed to hold just 17% more passengers. TPG recently got a sneak peek at the most notable new features under development for the new Sun Princess during a visit to the partly completed vessel at the Fincantieri shipyard. Note that this isn't the first time Princess has named a ship Sun Princess or Star Princess. Princess operated smaller vessels under the Sun Princess and Star Princess names up until 2020. The Sphere-class vessels are currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard near Monfalcone, Italy.

Knowing you take cinnamon in your latte and bringing you that latte anywhere. It’s addressing any concerns right now, not later, maybe even before you ask. Travel back in time and pan for gold like a prospector during the Gold Rush. Snuggle sled dog puppies in the ship's Piazza, or see the Northern Lights in the planetarium. At the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, explore our treehouse and enjoy unmatched views of Denali. Dive deeper into what makes the Great Land special on your cruise to Alaska.
Extend your Alaska cruise vacation, and simplify your travel plans with a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your cruise. With a Cruise Plus Hotel Package, a Princess representative meets you at the airport and pier, transporting you to and from your hotel. The package includes the cost of your hotel stay, transportation, luggage handling and the services of the representative.
Plus, as part of the line’s partnership with Discovery, guests can enjoy nature-filled activities and lectures. That makes the smaller Princess ships a good choice for someone who wants to try Princess but isn't eager to travel with huge crowds. The smallest ships in the Princess fleet thus appeal to a subset of Princess fans who prefer more intimacy in a cruise vessel and don't mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it. While Royal-class ships can hold more than 4,500 passengers with every berth full, the line's smaller vessels (particularly the relatively small Island Princess and Coral Princess) often sail with just 2,000 or so passengers on board. Princess' smaller cruise ships also generally are its older cruise ships and lack some of the above features, which are more typical of newer ships. These smaller Princess ships have a more intimate feel, at least in the pantheon of relatively big, mass-market ships, and they hold fewer people.
Crowning the heights of the ship, each Sky Suite hosts up to five guests, dazzling you with a 270-degree panorama throughout your voyage. Complementing the exquisitely appointed interior living spaces, a luxuriously furnished over 1,000-square-foot continuous balcony – the largest in our fleet – invites you to relax privately or host your own celebrations or catered events. That makes them a good choice for someone who wants to try Princess Cruises but isn't eager to travel with huge crowds. The oldest ships in the Princess fleet thus appeal to a subset of Princess fans who prefer more intimacy in a cruise vessel and don't mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it. The newest Princess cruise ship is typically also the Princess ship with the most up-to-date restaurants, bars, attractions and cabins. It's the one to choose if you want the very latest and greatest in a vessel for your Princess cruise vacation.
Encounter wildlife in their natural habitat at the Fortress of the Bear. Or experience the culture of Russian Alaska on a visit to St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church, and relive Native history at the Sheldon Jackson Museum. With no roads connecting it to the rest of Alaska or North America, it is truly a protected destination.
They also have big theaters that are home to production shows, comedy clubs and multiple restaurants and bars spread across their interiors. As noted above, the Royal Class ships can carry about 3,600 passengers apiece, based on double occupancy (two people per cabin). However, it's possible you'll find even more people than that on these ships when you sail on them. When additional berths from pull-down bunks and pull-out sofas are factored in, the total capacity of the ships jumps to around 4,600 passengers.
All 7-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries depart on either Saturdays or Sundays and visit Saint Thomas, Saint Maarten and Princess Cays.
